What to expect at a meeting

At a meeting, you can expect a relaxed atmosphere. Our members usually gather a few minutes early to have some dinner and socialize before the meeting starts. We will happily meet you and introduce ourselves. Then we will pair you up with a member to sit next to in case you have questions during the meeting.

During the meeting we will have Table Topics to improve members' impromptu speaking skills and ability to think on their feet. Next, we usually have one or two speakers give prepared speeches that last about 5-10 minutes each depending on the speech assignment. As our club has a variety of both speaking levels and time spent in Toastmasters, we have a very wide assortment of speeches, topics, and types of projects. After the speeches a person assigned to each speaker gives an evaluation pointing out strong points and offering a few suggestions for future improvement. During the business section, we'll make any needed announcements and have officer reports. Before the close of the meeting we'll ask for member announcements and you will be given an opportunity to speak. You may certainly decline if you are uncomfortable, but we welcome your input.
